ABOUT GALINA GREEN

ENGLISH

Galina Green is a ceramic artist based in Germany. Her work combines illustrative narrative art with functionality. Enthralled with the nature and landscape that surrounds her, she uses her hand-built pieces as a canvas for her naïve light-hearted contemporary illustrations.

Her work is rooted firmly in a sense of place, translated through whimsical painting and sgrafitto techniques, learnt during her art studies at the KHB Berlin Weissensee, where she completed a BA in textile and surface design.

Galina’s aim is that users of her ceramics feel a sense of place and joy through her work. She strongly feels that art should be integral to the everyday objects we use, with a nod to the principles of the Arts & Crafts Movement championed by Mary Watts and William Morris.

She works in stoneware to ensure her work is hard wearing and durable, using engobes to add texture and colour. Each piece is unique.

Galina Green ist Keramikkünstlerin und lebt nördlich von Berlin in der schönen Uckermark. In ihren Arbeiten verbindet sie illustrative Erzählkunst mit Funktionalität. Fasziniert von der Natur und der Landschaft, die sie umgibt, nutzt sie ihre handgefertigten Stücke als Fläche für ihre humorvoll-naiven, beschwingten Illustrationen.

Ihre Arbeit spiegelt eine Verbundenheit mit Ort und Natur, ausgedrückt durch Mal- und Sgraffito-Techniken, erlernt während ihres Kunststudiums an der KHB Berlin Weissensee (Textil- und Flächendesign).

Galinas Ziel ist es, durch ihrer Arbeit, die Freude an dem alltäglichen Gegenstand zu vermitteln. Sie ist der festen Überzeugung, dass Kunst ein integraler Bestandteil unseres Alltags sein sollte, verkörpert in unseren Alltagsgegenständen.  Sie ist den Prinzipien der Arts-and-Crafts-Bewegung in England verbunden, und verehrt die Arbeit von  u.a. Mary Watts und William Morris.

Sie arbeitet ausschließlich mit strapazierfähigem und langlebigem Steinzeug und verwendet Engoben, um Textur und Farbe hinzuzufügen.

Jedes Stück ist ein Unikat.
